⚖ Airspace · § 107.41Q-053 · 53 of 251

According to 14 CFR Part 107, what is required to operate a small UAS in Class B airspace?

Why →
Class B airspace requires prior ATC authorization under § 107.41, the same as Class C, D, and surface Class E. Class B surrounds the nation's busiest airports and extends in concentric layers. Due to high IFR traffic volume, ATC authorization for drone ops near Class B airports is often restricted to very low altitude ceilings or denied.
The trap →
Visual observers and NOTAM filings have no bearing on airspace authorization. The requirement is prior authorization from the ATC facility with jurisdiction, not notification, not a flight plan.
