What weather sequence is typically associated with the passage of a fast-moving cold front?

Why →
Fast-moving cold fronts (20–60 mph) bring: pre-frontal cumuliform clouds, rapid and sometimes violent weather at the frontal boundary (heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong gusty winds), then rapid clearing with improved visibility and lower temperatures. The entire sequence can pass in hours.
The trap →
Gradual improvement and steady precipitation describe a warm front, which is slow-moving and produces stratiform weather over extended periods. "Stratus and drizzle for 24–48 hours" is the warm front signature, not cold.
