⚖ Operations · § 107.49; FAA UAS Operations Over People Rule preamble (Federal Register 86 FR 4314)Q-204 · 204 of 251

A remote pilot is hired to document the exterior of a commercial building under construction. A photographer from the architecture firm is also on site taking ground-level photos and will be moving around the building perimeter during the flight window. What is the remote PIC's correct approach?

Why →
Under Part 107, a participant is any person directly involved in the operation or who has been briefed on and consented to the operation's hazards. The architecture firm's photographer is part of the documentation project and can be briefed and treated as a participant. Once briefed and consented, Operations Over People Category rules do not apply to them.
The trap →
Choice B over-reads the Operations Over People framework. Category 1 to 4 compliance addresses non-participants. A participant who has been briefed is not in that framework at all.
