A remote pilot holds a Part 107 certificate. They are hired to photograph a wedding at a private venue. Which statement is most accurate regarding compensation?

AAny compensation received requires a 14 CFR Part 135 commercial operator certificate.
BCompensation is permitted under Part 107 without additional certification as long as the operation meets all Part 107 requirements.
CThe remote pilot may accept only non-monetary forms of compensation such as barter or trade.

Why →Part 107 explicitly authorizes commercial operations. The certificate was designed for compensated commercial work. A Part 107 remote pilot certificate is sufficient to perform compensated drone operations (photography, inspection, delivery, etc.) as long as the specific operation complies with all Part 107 operational requirements.

The trap →Part 135 covers air carrier and air taxi operations; it is not required for sUAS work. And there is no monetary vs. non-monetary restriction. Compensation is compensation.

Field note →Before Part 107 arrived in 2016, commercial operators needed Section 333 exemptions. A few specialized operations still need more, like chemical spraying under Part 137.
