Why →
Under 14 CFR § 107.37, sUAS must yield right of way to all other aircraft at all times. Emergency aircraft (EMS helicopters, fire, police) have absolute priority. The remote PIC must immediately take action to ensure the aircraft does not create a collision hazard, which means maneuvering clear, not maintaining course.
The trap →
Maintaining altitude and heading to avoid "erratic maneuvering" sounds cautious but is wrong. The helicopter has absolute right of way and predictable maneuvering by the drone is secondary to ensuring separation. Most remote pilots don't have ATC contact capability anyway.
