How often must a Remote Pilot Certificate holder complete recurrent training or testing to maintain currency?
AEvery 12 calendar months
BEvery 24 calendar months✓
CEvery 36 calendar months
Why →Under 14 CFR § 107.65, a remote pilot must have completed recurrent training, or passed an aeronautical knowledge test, within the previous 24 calendar months to remain current.
The trap →Many aviation ratings run a 12-month currency cycle (flight reviews for private pilots, for example). Part 107 gives you twice as long.
Field note →Since April 2021, the FAA offers free online recurrent training at FAASafety.gov, no testing center required. The 24-month clock still applies, but passing the online course satisfies it.
